BUFFALO, New York — A former Toys R Us employee has been sentenced to 25 years in state prison for killing his boss last year inside the Buffalo-area store where they both worked.

Local media report that Bernard Grucza (GROOZ'-uh) didn't speak during his sentencing Thursday in state Supreme Court in Buffalo.

Grucza pleaded guilty in April to a reduced charge of manslaughter in the slaying of 35-year-old Laurence Wells II.

Authorities say Grucza was an employee of the Toys R US store in Hamburg that Wells managed.

Police say Grucza was robbing the safe at the store when Wells walked in on him in the early morning hours of June 29, 2013. Grucza stabbed Wells and left him bleeding in the office. Wells was found by other employees and later died at a hospital.
