PORTLAND, Texas — Police say 2 people are dead in a small plane crash just north of Corpus Christi.

KIII-TV reports (http://bit.ly/1HEln2m ) that a man and a woman were on board, but no more details were immediately available on their identity or where they were headed. The plane crashed at the North Shore Country Club in Portland, about 150 miles southeast of San Antonio.

The National Transportation Safety Board on Twitter identified the plane as an Aeronca Champion 7BCM. The NTSB said it was investigating.
