BRATTLEBORO, Vermont — A Vermont woman accused of embezzling $400,000 from an auto dealership where she worked as an auction manager has been sentenced to 15 months in prison.

Manon Cote of Newport, who handled the ledger at DeLaBruere's Auto Sales and made bank deposits, was accused of taking cash receipts and writing out checks to unauthorized payees to cover up the theft between 2007 and 2012.

The 47-year-old Cote also is accused of writing checks to herself to pay personal loans, using a company credit card for personal reasons and buying a laptop computer with company funds.

She originally faced three charges, but pleaded guilty in an agreement with prosecutors to one count of uttering a forged instrument. The Caledonian Record reports (http://bit.ly/1rHMQGV) she's been ordered to pay back over $368,000.
