WILMINGTON, North Carolina — Wilmington police say an off-duty officer has been taken into custody following a 10-hour standoff.

Officers were called to an apartment around 11:30 a.m. Tuesday after a report that a man had barricaded himself in his apartment and was threatening to kill himself.

Wilmington police spokeswoman Linda Rawley says the officer was taken to New Hanover Regional Medical Center for an evaluation.

No injuries were reported.

Officers blocked off a parking lot at the complex for a time during the negotiations.
