2 killed in fiery crash when BMW hits garbage truck on Long Island


INWOOD, New York — Police on Long Island say two people are dead after a BMW crashed into a garbage truck and both vehicles caught fire.

The fiery collision happened at 4:15 a.m. Saturday in Inwood.

Nassau County police say the BMW and the truck collided at an intersection and both vehicles became engulfed in flames.

The two people in the car were pronounced dead at the scene. Their names were not immediately released. The truck driver was treated for non-life-threatening injuries at a local hospital.

Police are investigating the accident.
