ATLANTA — Winners in the Georgia Associated Press Media Editors annual broadcast contest were honored Saturday at the group's meeting in Atlanta.
AP member broadcast stations in Massachusetts and Rhode Island judged the Georgia broadcast contest. Stations were judged in three divisions: radio, television stations serving markets of more than 500,000 and television stations serving markets with fewer than 500,000.
The Pacemaker is awarded to the station in each division with the best overall performance in the contest. It went to WABE for radio, to WXIA in Atlanta in the larger television markets category and WRDW in Augusta for the smaller television markets category.
The Georgia APME, comprised of newspapers and broadcast stations that are members of the news cooperative, also honored WSB-TV for its outstanding member video cooperation.
