Fort Yates man accused of breaking into high school to assault federal officer pleads guilty

BISMARCK, North Dakota — A man accused of breaking into a high school on the Standing Rock Indian Reservation with the intent of assaulting a federal officer has pleaded guilty.

Lyman Black Cloud, of Fort Yates, is charged with burglary. Authorities say Black Cloud entered the Solen High School in June, when the school was closed.

No further details have been released.

Black Cloud faces a maximum penalty of five years in prison. A sentencing date has not been set.
