ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico — A Mexican man has been sentenced to 12 ½ years in federal prison for drug trafficking in New Mexico.
Prosecutors say 41-year-old Alfredo Ochoa also was ordered Tuesday to pay a $500,000 judgment and be deported after completing his prison term.
Ochoa was one of 15 defendants charged in late 2011 and early 2012 as a result of an investigation by federal authorities into drug trafficking in Bernalillo County.
Authorities seized four pounds of methamphetamine, nearly 400 grams of crack cocaine, almost 200 grams of cocaine and about 160 grams of oxycodone during the investigation. Also seized were seven vehicles, a firearm and almost $212,000 in cash.
Twelve of the defendants have entered guilty pleas, two have entered not guilty pleas and are pending trial, and one remains a fugitive.
