Man killed, woman injured in Hartford shooting; city's 21st homicide of the year


HARTFORD, Connecticut — A man was killed and a woman was injured in an early morning shooting in Hartford.

Police say 40-year-old William King and 40-year-old Jennifer Ryan, of Coventry, were shot on Lenox Street at about 4:15 a.m. Tuesday.

King, who police say was shot in "the lower extremities," was taken to Saint Francis Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Ryan, who was shot in the calf, was also taken to the hospital and is expected to survive.

There was no immediate word on a motive or an arrest.

King's death is the city's 21st homicide of the year. There were 18 all of last year.
