WILLISTON, North Dakota — Equipment failure is being blamed for a contained saltwater spill in Williams County.

The state Oil and Gas Division says 10 barrels of oil, 745 barrels of saltwater and 15 barrels of fresh water spilled and were recovered at a disposal well about 14 miles east of Williston. A barrel holds 42 gallons.

Whiting Oil and Gas Corp. reported the spill Friday. A state inspector has been to the site.
