Essex County authorities probing crash that killed pedestrian in Montclair


MONTCLAIR, New Jersey — Authorities in Essex County are investigating a crash that killed a pedestrian in Montclair.

Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn Murray and Montclair Police Chief David Sabagh say the crash occurred shortly after 7:40 p.m. Thursday about a quarter-mile off Bloomfield Avenue.

Forty-eight-year-old Jamie Vuignier was struck and killed. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and no charges had been filed as of Friday morning.

The incident is under investigation.
