NASHUA, New Hampshire — The New Hampshire attorney general's office says a man stabbed his long-time girlfriend to death on a bridge, then went home and engaged in a standoff with police before fatally shooting himself.
Authorities say the body of 55-year-old Meg Halley of Nashua was found on the Baldwin Street Bridge on Saturday night. Police then responded to a Hutchinson Street home where 58-year-old Allen Rediker was holed up with a gun and refused to come out. A SWAT team entered the home and found him dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
Police said the couple had been out with friends in Nashua on Saturday night, socializing and drinking. They left their friends after 10 p.m. and started walking home when they started to argue.
Autopsies were done Monday.
