Prosecutors: Man killed in Camden street shooting; motive remains under investigation


CAMDEN, New Jersey — Prosecutors say a man found wounded on a Camden street has died from his injuries.

Camden County Police found Andre Matthews lying on a sidewalk around 3:10 a.m. Sunday, shortly after they responded to reports of shots fired in the 1400 block of Pershing Street.

The 44-year-old city man was taken to a hospital, where he died a short time later.

Further details on the shooting were not disclosed, including what type of weapon was used or how many assailants may have been involved.

Camden County prosecutors say a motive for the shooting remains under investigation. No arrests have been made.
