RAVENNA, Ohio — Prosecutors from the Ohio Attorney General's Office will review an investigation and decide whether to proceed with a case against a former small-town police chief who developed an outsized following with his blunt, frequently humorous Facebook commentary.

David Oliver was investigated after he stepped down in January from his police post in Brimfield Township, in northeast Ohio. Portage County Prosecutor Victor Vigluicci says there were financial discrepancies and allegations of misconduct by Oliver toward a female officer.

Vigluicci said he knows the former chief and employed his wife, so he asked the attorney general to appoint a special prosecutor to handle the matter going forward.

Oliver has denied a female officer's allegations of sexual harassment and discrimination and has suggested his management style was being used against him.
