NORFOLK, Virginia — Passenger traffic increased at Charlottesville Albemarle Airport in 2014 while Norfolk International Airport saw a decline.
Media outlets report that an estimated 493,506 passengers flew in and out of the Charlottesville airport last year. That's up about 31,000 from 2013.
Norfolk International Airport's passenger traffic totaled about 2.9 million people, down 4.7 percent from 2013. It's the first time passenger traffic has fallen below 3 million people since 2001.
Newport News/Williamsburg International Airport plans to release its 2014 figures Thursday. Richmond International Airport will release its latest figures next week.
