BATON ROUGE, Louisiana — The manager of LSU's Shreveport and Monroe hospitals, accused by university leaders of not fulfilling its contract terms, says it has sought to bring in an outside mediator to work out the disputes.
But the Biomedical Research Foundation of Northwest Louisiana, known as BRF, says LSU has refused to agree to the mediation.
BRF sent a 21-page response to LSU late Wednesday, rebutting accusations it has breached its contract. Instead, the foundation said university leaders have thwarted efforts to ease the transition and resolve problems.
Steve Skrivanos, chairman of the BRF board, says since it took over management of the two hospitals nearly two years ago, the foundation has decreased overtime costs, reduced patient wait times and lowered patient complaints.
LSU refused to comment Thursday on the hospital manager's letter.
