ALEXANDRIA, Louisiana — The campus of Louisiana State University of Alexandria will be tobacco free by this summer.
State law mandates public post-secondary institutions become smoke-free by August.
The Town Talk reports (http://townta.lk/Mnm59i ) that LSUA is not only prohibiting the use of cigarettes and cigars on campus but all forms of smokeless tobacco— such as chewing and dipping tobacco — and electronic cigarettes.
The new policy takes effect Aug. 1.
LSU Eunice was the first school in the LSU system to go tobacco-free. LSUA is the second.
LSUA Interim Chancellor Paul Coreil says others are considering it.
