TOWNSEND, Massachusetts — Police in northern Massachusetts say they have arrested a boy who threatened to use a weapon to harm people at North Middlesex Regional High School in Townsend.
High school administrators notified police about the threat at about 1 p.m. Thursday. School officials kept the boy in their custody until police arrived, and he was immediately arrested.
Townsend police activated a regional school threat assessment response team that includes members of area law enforcement agencies. Officers searched the building and didn't find any weapons.
The boy is expected to be arraigned Friday in Lowell Juvenile Court. His name wasn't released because of juvenile offender laws.
