MURRIETA, California — A mother in Murrieta has been arrested on suspicion of child abuse after one of her 3-year-old twin sons was taken to the emergency room with malnutrition and a broken jaw.

The Riverside Press Enterprise reports Thursday (http://bit.ly/1tnyVTG) that Courtney Lynn Stewart was being held on $130,000 in bail.

Police began investigating more than two weeks ago after Stewart took the child to the emergency room at the urging of her mother.

Police Detective Sgt. Phil Gomez says the boy could not walk, weighed less than 15 pounds and had bruises.

Detectives found the other twin at the home.

He was also treated for malnutrition and poor health and released.

It wasn't immediately clear if Stewart has an attorney.

No one answered the door at her home.
