RALEIGH, North Carolina — North Carolina's "Moral Monday" legislative protest movement is turning its focus to voter registration.
The group is holding a "live-stream" voter mobilization event Monday that will be broadcast online for people to watch across the state. The broadcast will focus on registering to vote and bringing people to the polls this fall. It comes one week before the group will ask a judge to put a hold on a voting law passed last year that they say is makes it harder for minorities and low income people to vote.
The group held its last rally for the year in the Legislative Building last week. As the General Assembly session is winding down, lawmakers are trying to pass a budget this week so they can adjourn and campaign for re-election.
