SYRACUSE, New York — A Georgia man has been sentenced to 25 years to life in prison for killing his estranged wife inside her upstate New York apartment nearly 30 years ago.

The Post-Standard of Syracuse reports (http://bit.ly/12WfF8G ) 61-year-old Ron Meadow was sentenced Friday in Onondaga County Court in Syracuse, where he was convicted Nov. 6 of second-degree murder in the slaying of 27-year-old Collen Meadow.

Prosecutors say Meadow hog-tied his wife and strangled her inside her Syracuse apartment in March 1985. Her body was found after she didn't show up for work.

Ron Meadow later moved out of state and remarried. The auto plant worker was living in Dallas, Georgia, when he was charged last December. Authorities say DNA evidence from the crime scene led to the murder charges against him.
