ST. PETERSBURG, Florida — Authorities say a St. Petersburg police officer was hospitalized following a crash with a taxi.
Police say the officer and the cab driver had been approaching an intersection from opposite directions shortly after midnight Thursday when the taxi made a left turn in front of the officer, leading to a collision. The impact sent the patrol car into a utility box and pole.
The officer was taken to a nearby hospital. His injuries weren't considered life-threatening.
The taxi driver was not injured. He was cited with failing to yield while making a left turn.
