WORCESTER, Massachusetts — A former health and sex education teacher at a Fitchburg charter school has been sentenced to two-and-a-half years in jail after pleading guilty to enticing and raping an underage student.
The Telegram & Gazette reports (http://bit.ly/1EkIgTx) 28-year-old Rachelle Gendron of Fitchburg said Friday in Worcester Superior Court she deeply regrets her actions. She said the relationship began when she tried to counsel the 14-year-old boy.
Prosecutors said Gendron had sexual encounters with the boy in 2012 and photos of her "in various states of undress" were found on his cellphone.
Gendron was sentenced to 10 years' probation and ordered to undergo sex offender counseling and GPS monitoring. She may not contact the victim or have unsupervised contact with anyone under 16.
Gendron's lawyer said her actions were "an aberration" in an otherwise respectable life.
