US Department of Agriculture says milk production up 5 percent in South Dakota over 2013

SIOUX FALLS, South Dakota — The U.S. Department of Agriculture says South Dakota increased its milk production in June.

The USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service says milk production in the state totaled 177 million pounds, a 5 percent increase over June 2013.

The average number of milk cows in June was 97,000. Milk production per cow averaged 1,825 pounds.
