COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado — The El Paso County Coroner's Office has identified the man who was shot to death during a reported burglary in Colorado Springs as 32-year-old Eduardo Gonzales-Ortiz.
Police responding to reports of a burglary and shots fired found the man suffering from a gunshot wound at a home near Red Rock Canyon Open Space just after midnight Sunday. Gonzales-Ortiz was pronounced dead at a hospital.
The Gazette reports (http://bit.ly/1u4LMOa ) the district attorney's office has determined the resident, a 59-year-old woman, was justified when she shot the man.
She told investigators she saw someone pushing through her window, told the man to stop and fired a warning shot. When he continued crawling into her window, she shot him one time.
