TALLAHASSEE, Florida — Authorities say a Florida Panhandle teen has been charged with bringing a loaded gun to school.

Leon County Sheriff's Office spokesman Grady Jordan told the Tallahassee Democrat (http://goo.gl/pB8LBf ) that the 14-year-old boy was detained by Leon High School officials Monday morning after a gun was found in his backpack. Deputies responded and took the teen into custody.

Later Monday morning, a fire was discovered in a storage room on the school's third floor, but Jordan says investigators weren't immediately able to find a connection between the fire and the gun.

Tuesday classes have been canceled because of the fire.
