ASHEBORO, North Carolina — The trails that wind through the North Carolina Zoo are against hosting little ghosts and goblins for the annual "Boo at the Zoo."

Beginning Saturday, the zoo will offer games, trick-or-treating, entertainment and costume contests during the daytime celebration. The two-day activity runs from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. in the zoo's Africa and North America plazas.

Treat bags with scavenger hunt details will be given out. Guests can also view assorted pumpkins carved by the park's zoo keepers and on display in the North America plaza.

Children ages 12 and under are encouraged to wear their best outfits for the costume contests in the Africa Amphitheater. Judges will award prizes each day in three age categories.

Adults wearing costumes, masks or painted faces are not allowed inside the park.
