MARIETTA, Georgia — Cobb County prosecutors say a repeat sex offender has been sentenced to life without parole.

District Attorney's spokeswoman Kim Isaza said in a statement that 43-year-old David Christopher Roberts was convicted Friday of aggravated child molestation, child molestation and enticing a minor for indecent purposes.

Prosecutors say Roberts met the 13-year-old victim through a phone chat line and drove to meet her in Cobb County on Aug. 6, 2012. Prosecutors say Roberts assaulted the girl on the playground at Pitner Elementary School.

Authorities say Roberts was convicted of raping a teenage girl in 1992 in Indiana and has two felony drug convictions on his record.

Prosecutors say DNA recovered from the victim helped lead to Roberts' arrest in Tennessee.
