LAFAYETTE, Louisiana — Police say a driver died after running a red light in Lafayette.

The accident happened about 11:10 a.m. Sunday in the 4200 block of Johnston Street.

Cpl. Nicole Benoit said in a news release a Mitsubishi Montero failed to stop at a red light and hit Toyota Tundra and a Nissan Armada and then flipped over.

Benoit says the driver of the Montero, who has not been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene.

She says three occupants of the other vehicles were taken to hospitals for treatment.
