Car hits house in Phoenix metro after being rear-ended, smashing into kids' bedroom

PHOENIX — Police say a driver in the Phoenix metro area smashed into a house after being rear-ended and losing control of her car.

Glendale police say the driver jumped a curb and a frontage street during the early Wednesday accident, destroying vegetation and hitting trash cans before slamming into a bedroom where three kids were sleeping.

The five children in the house were uninjured, but the family had to check into a hotel at about 5 a.m. Wednesday. The impact of the crash sent debris over the roof of the house and into the backyard pool.

The driver who hit the house wasn't hurt.

Glendale police say they are still looking for the driver who rear-ended the woman's vehicle. They say that person ran away on foot.
