LAKE CHARLES, Louisiana — A state judge has sentenced a Lake Charles man to 20 years in prison in a 2012 hostage situation.
The American Press reports (http://bit.ly/1eOXZNb ) prosecutor Tara Hawkins and defense attorney Catherine Stagg began selecting jurors Monday. But on Tuesday, Joshua Jermaine Plumber pleaded guilty rather than go to trial.
Plumber pleaded guilty to one count of home invasion in the presence of a child under 12 and being a convicted felon in possession of a weapon.
Judge Mike Canaday sentenced Plumber to 20 years on the home invasion charge and a 10-year concurrent sentence for the weapon. Plumber will serve the first 10 years without parole.
Plumber had faced charges of home invasion, six counts of false imprisonment with a dangerous weapon, illegal use of a weapon and second-degree battery.
