Montana state parks set record in 2014 with more than 2.2 million visits

BILLINGS, Montana — State parks in Montana recorded more than 2.2 million visits 2014, setting a record for the second consecutive year.

Montana State Parks said the number of visits was up 3 percent versus 2013. Most of those visits were by Montana residents.

Over the past decade, the number of visits is up almost 30 percent.

Among the most popular parks, Giant Springs State Park in Great Falls topped the list with almost 316,500 visits.

Other top destinations included Lake Elmo in Billings, Cooney State Park in Roberts, Spring Meadow Lake in Helena and Wayfarers State Park in Kalispell.
