MANISTEE TOWNSHIP, Michigan — A pilot, instructor pilot and two passengers have been injured after a small plane crashed during takeoff from a northern Michigan airport.
The Manistee County sheriff's office tells television station WPBN-WTOM (http://bit.ly/1stegje ) that the plane's nose gear did not clear a surrounding fence Tuesday afternoon at Manistee Blacker Airport in Manistee Township.
The plane hit some trees after sliding into a wooded area. The crash is under investigation.
The 37-year-old pilot, a 25-year-old instructor pilot, 54-year-old passenger and 27-year-old passenger suffered minor injuries.
