Standoff between suicidal Grand Forks man and police ends peacefully after about 4 hours


GRAND FORKS, North Dakota — Grand Forks police say a standoff with a suicidal man ended peacefully after about four hours.

The standoff began about 3:30 p.m. Monday when the man barricaded himself in his home and threatened to harm himself. SWAT and crisis negotiation teams were called in.

The man left the home after authorities used a flash-bang grenade about 7:30 p.m. He was taken to a hospital to be evaluated.
