INDEPENDENCE, Iowa — An Iowa man has been sentenced to more than 21 years in federal prison for thousands of child pornography images found on his computer.

The Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier reports (http://bit.ly/1pnUrnP ) 38-year-old Steven Risk was sentenced Tuesday in district court in Cedar Rapids. He was convicted on one count each of possession and distribution of child pornography.

Investigators found about 36,000 child pornography images and 60 videos while searching his computer in 2013.

Authorities say they began investigating Risk after he sent non-pornographic pictures of a female acquaintance's daughter to a South Carolina man. Risk told authorities he emailed photos of the girl to others five to 10 times.

Risk will be on supervised release for 15 years following his prison time.
