BISHOPVILLE, South Carolina — The State Law Enforcement Division is investigating the death of an inmate at the Lee Correctional Institution in Bishopville.

Lee County Coroner Larry Logan told local media outlets that 27-year-old Victor Rogers was found dead in his cell Tuesday morning.

An autopsy was planned Wednesday in Newberry.

Corrections Department spokeswoman Stephanie Givens said she could not release any information about the investigation of Rogers' death.

Agency records show Rogers had been in prison since February 2013.

SLED spokesman Thom Berry said a crime scene unit was sent to the prison to help in the investigation.
