WILMINGTON, Delaware — Police are investigating the shooting death of a Wilmington woman hit by a stray bullet during a street brawl.

Authorities say 43-year-old Crystal Brown was leaving Adams Market on North Adams St. about 9:45 p.m. Sunday when she encountered several people fighting in the street.

Investigators say that as a crowd formed, one or more people fired multiple gunshots. Brown, who not involved in the fight, was struck in the chest by a stray bullet.

She was pronounced dead at Christiana Hospital in Newark.
