PALMYRA, Virginia — A Fork Union man has collected a $2 million Powerball prize.

Virginia Lottery officials on Wednesday presented the check to David Vaughan at the E.W. Thomas Grocery in Palmyra, where he bought the ticket for the March 4 drawing.

Vaughan matched the first five numbers, missing only the Powerball. Normally that would win $1 million. But he spent an extra dollar for Power Play when he bought the ticket. That doubled his prize.

Asked what he planned to do with his winnings, the retiree said: "I'm going fishing. And I'm not going to tell you where."
