OXFORD, Mississippi — An attorney has asked a federal judge to delay the March 3 trial of the police chief of a small town in the Mississippi Delta charged with hitting someone in the face while acting is his official capacity.
Webb Police Chief Jimmie Johnson pleaded not guilty in November in U.S. District Court in Oxford to one count of depriving someone on their civil rights.
Webb is a town of 565 people in Tallahatchie County.
Johnson was indicted on Oct. 31. The indictment says Johnson struck the victim on Feb. 5, 2012.
