Police: Driver of car that struck pedestrian found on Philadelphia-area road has called them

BENSALEM, Pennsylvania — Police investigating an apparent hit-and-run in suburban Philadelphia say the driver involved has called them following news reports about the death.

Bensalem police say a passing motorist spotted a man's body along the shoulder of the northbound lane of State Road south of Mill Road just after 8 a.m. Wednesday.

Police say a preliminary investigation indicates that 29-year-old Andrew Miller of Bensalem was walking along the shoulder when a northbound vehicle struck him. They said the vehicle didn't remain at the scene and investigators believe the accident occurred sometime Tuesday evening.

Police said in a Facebook post that after news reports about the death, "police were contacted by the driver of the striking vehicle and the investigation remains active." No charges were immediately reported.
