Los Angeles bus hits tree, leaving 4 passengers, driver with minor injuries

LOS ANGELES — A driver and four passengers were hospitalized with minor injuries after a bus jumped a curb and collided with a tree on one of Los Angeles' busiest streets.

Los Angeles Police Department Officer Mike Lopez said the single-vehicle accident happened early Saturday on Wilshire Boulevard in the city's Westwood neighborhood.

LAPD Lt. Raymond Marquez told City News Service that "the driver reported that she just blacked out."

Fifteen passengers were on board the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority bus at the time of the crash.

An investigation is under way but Lopez said there was no evidence the female driver — who was not identified — was impaired by drugs or alcohol.
