Lawyers for man accused of kidnapping teen ask judge to exclude evidence

LACONIA, New Hampshire — The lawyers for a man accused of kidnapping a 14-year-old girl and raping her over the course of nine months are trying to exclude evidence from his trial.

Prosecutors said 35-year-old Nathaniel Kibby kidnapped the girl on her way home from school in Conway in October 2013, then imprisoned her in his home and a storage unit until July 2014. He faces more than 200 charges.

WMUR-TV reports (http://bit.ly/1MRKFuR ) his lawyers told a judge Tuesday that their client maintains his innocence and is the victim of warrantless searches. They are trying to suppress evidence that include firearms, a mask and counterfeit money. They say items including pornography were found in his trailer.

Prosecutors say police knew the items had evidentiary value.

Hearings are scheduled to continue in February.
