TULSA, Oklahoma — A judge has handed down four consecutive life sentences to a Tulsa man convicted in an attack that left an 84-year-old woman dead and her 89-year-old husband seriously injured.

Tyrone Dale Woodfork was formally sentenced Monday by Tulsa County District Judge William Kellough for the March 2012 attack at the home of Bob and Nancy Strait. Authorities said Nancy Strait was raped and killed, while her husband was seriously injured. Bob Strait, who was 89, died several weeks later, though Woodfork wasn't charged in his death because it was attributed to underlying medical conditions.

According to the Tulsa World (http://bit.ly/1naXUdb ), Woodfork told the family in court that he was sorry for their loss but said he was innocent in the attack. At trial, Woodfork's attorney had argued that his client admitted robbing the couple but denied raping and killing Nancy Strait.

In court Monday, Woodfork told relatives of the Straits that he would help them find the right killer "when the time was right."

A jury convicted Woodfork in May of felony murder, assault and battery and two counts of first-degree rape. Kellough handed down life sentences for each conviction and made them consecutive, meaning Woodfork will likely remain behind bars for the rest of his life, prosecutors said.

"Mom's and Dad's sentence was for life," said Lanora Gay, a daughter of the Straits. "My sentence, my family's sentences are for life, with no chance of parole, we carry the pain till our death."
