THIBODAUX, Louisiana — The Thibodaux administration has proposed a $32.5 million budget for 2016.
Capital projects are sparse, but the budget includes a performance-based salary increase of up to 3 percent for city employees.
The operating budget estimated for next year is $24.5 million, a roughly 5 percent decrease from the $25.8 million approved by the council last year.
Thibodaux Mayor Tommy Eschete tells The Daily Comet (http://bit.ly/1HqPdSX) the roughly $1 million in cuts comes before Thibodaux voters decide on a half-cent sales tax on March 5.
Two new building projects, a clarifier tank walkway at the water plant and an airport fencing project paid for with federal and state money, are included in next year's budget.
The public hearing for the city's budget will be Dec. 1.
