RICHFORD, Vermont — A fire has destroyed a home in the Vermont town of Richford near the Canadian border.
Fire investigators say they have determined that the fire on Thursday afternoon was accidental and say improperly disposed of smoking materials at the back of the house may have been the source.
Officials say the two people who were in the home at the time got out safely.
The house was a total loss with damages estimated at $150,000.
