Democrat Hulsey raises just $2,500 in longshot bid for governor against Burke, Walker

MADISON, Wisconsin — Longshot Democratic candidate for governor Brett Hulsey raised just shy of $2,500 over the first six months of the year.

The state representative from Madison reported late Monday that he also had just $950 cash on hand as of July. Hulsey will face former Trek Bicycles executive Mary Burke in the Aug. 12 primary.

Burke reported raising $3.6 million through June and had $2.5 million cash on hand.

Republican Gov. Scott Walker brought in the most, raising nearly $8.3 million in the first half of the year. He had $7.6 million cash on hand.

The primary is Aug. 12 and the general election is Nov. 4.
