CLAREMONT, California — Authorities say a 14-year-old Southern California boy has been arrested on suspicion of stabbing his older sister to death.
Police responding to a 911 call went to a home in Claremont Wednesday evening and found the girl with stab wounds.
Fifteen-year-old Aspen Geurts died at the scene, said Los Angeles County Coroner's Assistant Chief Ed Winter.
Claremont Police Lt. Mike Ciszek says the young suspect was apprehended while walking away from the residence carrying a knife.
Ciszek says the boy was calm and cooperative with officers and was taken to a juvenile facility.
Detectives are investigating what led to the stabbing. It wasn't immediately clear who made the 911 call.
It's the first homicide in Claremont since 2009.
