NEW YORK — The son of a New York City police officer killed in a crash on a bridge ramp has filed a $20 million lawsuit against the city.
Officer Elisa Toro was off-duty on Dec. 10 when her car crashed on an exit ramp of the Ed Koch Queensboro Bridge. Her vehicle rolled and struck a vacant storefront.
The lawsuit alleges city officials knew the curve was a deadly hazard.
In 2011, a motorist and a pedestrian were killed there within a two-week period after vehicles lost control at the exit ramp.
Toro's son told the Daily News (http://nydn.us/UvPmD2 ) that "after a couple of accidents, you would think they'd fix it."
The city Law Department says it will review the lawsuit.
