DETROIT — Authorities say an early-morning fire on Detroit's west side has injured two firefighters.
The Detroit News reports the department says the firefighters were taken to a hospital Wednesday for treatment of smoke inhalation and transferred for observation.
Detroit-area broadcasters report the fire started in a vacant multi-family home and spread to a nearby vacant apartment building. The stations say firefighting efforts may have been hampered by low water pressure in the area.
The cause wasn't immediately known. Arson Chief Charles Simms tells the Detroit Free Press that it's being investigated as arson because firefighters reported multiple ignition points.
