HOPKINSVILLE, Kentucky — Kentucky State Police say a school bus went off the road and hit a tree in western Kentucky, injuring a teenage student.

The bus was traveling on Kentucky 109 Tuesday morning when it went off the right side of the roadway, then swerved to the other side, went off the road again and hit a tree.

There were five students on the bus. A female 18-year-old was taken to Jennie Stuart Medical Center after complaining of leg pain. No other injuries were reported.

State police say the bus driver likely overcorrected the steering wheel after initially going off the road.

The students were from Christian County but police did not say what school they attend.
